 val\, or Kermis as it used to be known as\, was started in 1975\, not a b
 ad effort\, considering it is wholly run by volunteers. Much has changeds
 ince then as the Sandown Entertainment complex provides a great covered s
 pace\, with air-conditioning. So if it’s hot outside\, you’ll stay co
 ol inside and dry – also handy to know.But the friendly family atmospher
 e is still there. Lots of familiar faces\; a time to catch up with old fri
 ends. Music and dance\, typical Dutch foods and lots of things to keep the
  children entertained. So if you miss your typical Dutch: kroketten\, pata
 t met (fries with mayo)\, drop (licorice)\, haring (herring) &amp\; cheese
 \, boerenkoolstamp met worst (Dutch mash with sausage)it’s the place to 
 find all of those delicacies and more. Remember those old fashioned games:
  steltelopen (walking on stilts)\, touwtje trekken (lucky strings)\; they
 ’re all at the Holland Festival for the next generations to enjoy. Inclu
 ding the always popular game of sjoelbakken\, which is enjoyed by all ages
 .Then there is the dancing\; on the dance floor or maybe you’re just hap
 py to sit and watch traditional clogdancers. Music and entertainment all d
 ay from morning till night\, for young and old. Displays of handcrafts suc
 h as Delft Blue and many stalls with a large variety of items such as Dutc
 h foods\, t-shirts and tea towels!There’s something for everyone. So may
 be put the date in your diary and come down the next Holland Festival. Sat
